'PM hints at admin reshuffle

Dhaka, July 28 – The prime minister has said the administration needs to be shuffled to carry out the government activities more smoothly.
"We want to bring massive changes in administration so as to ensure that the development initiatives of the government are executed properly and to the benefit of people," she said on Thursday.
Urging government officials to be more sincere, the prime minister said, "We've to put forth the country's development, and the values and philosophy of the Liberation War.
"At the annual dinner party thrown by Bangladesh Administrative Service Association at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Hasina told public servants, "Since none can work independently, you've to take the responsibility of coordination among the government bodies, so that the development activities are materialised properly.
"Secretary-general of the association and Dhaka divisional commissioner Moinuddin Abdullah raised voice over what he called discrimination with administrative cadres in appointment.
"Many of the officers are still awaiting promotion.
They're victims of discrimination," he added.
Local government secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan extended his support to the prime minister.
"We're with you so that you can reach the goal.
I swear on behalf of all," Khan said.
