Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants friendly relations with all neighbours

Dhaka, Jun 20 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said her country believes in peaceful co-existence and friendly relations with all neighbouring countries.
She said this when visiting Indian Army Chief General V K Singh called on her at Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister's official residence.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters that the premier, during the meeting, observed such visits would help strengthen bilateral ties.
Bangladesh believes in good relations with India, as with all other neighbouring countries, Ms Hasina is said to have made clear to General Singh.
The Prime Minister also stressed on cooperation to alleviate poverty in South Asia.
With deep gratitude, she recalled the active cooperation of the Indian government, people and military during the 1971 Liberation War. She recalled in particular the sacrifice made by the Indian army.
During the meeting, the Indian Army chief showed the Prime Minister some rare photographs from her father and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s visit to India and events related to the Liberation War.
Indian High Commissioner Rajeet Mitter, Principal Staff Officer Lt Gen Abdul Wadud and other senior army officers were present.
